Beauty on the Ground

Walks, long solitary walks, are part of my personal wellness plan. Stepping out my front door, I turn my feet to the manicured path along Victoria Avenue and wend my way to the Gage Canal. Leaving the level path, I descend into the "Big Dip" formed by a flood wash carving away the sandy soil.

And there she was below the storm drain: a killdeer flustered by my approach. Instead of following her as she put on a performance to distract me, I looked down. In moments I spotted her treasure hidden in plain sight: these four speckled eggs. The magic of nature's routine made my heart swell. Pin It
