The taste & smell of happiness

On the south side of our house a lemon tree grows. Yesterday I picked seven ripe lemons gorged to nearly bursting on all the sunshine they devoured through the year. This afternoon I squeezed those almost sweet lemons; with their tangy juice I made my first-ever pitcher of zesty-sour lemonade.

In my still and quiet house, more smells of happiness assail me. Clean laundry tumbles in the dryer and that warm scent mingles with the aroma of baking bread. My windows are open and I smell the sun's heat on the wind that sweeps down our dead end street. Pin It
