On this gift chair I used with something new...well new to me: decoupage with color-patterned paper. (Not quite the same thing as the vintage world map used on my round table.) The happy designs of scrapbook paper combined easily with stamped and hand-painted motifs.
A cheerful paisley design covers the horizontal piece at the base of the chair back and two squares on the seat. A pink hippie-esque flower power print adorns the center back vertical piece and one of the circles on the seat.
Along with decoupage, this chair includes precision painting -- the black & white checked seat, stamping, and free-form polka dot flowers, curvy lines and leaves just below the signature and date.
