Done Deal

Remember my Confessions at the start of the month? The bright quilt by artist Melody Johnson inspired the design for my first painted floor mat.

After completing the jaunty checks around the edge in hot pink and mango, I coated the entire mat with three layers of polyurethane. Using gloss finish makes the colors pop, but creates a bit of glare when photographing. Oh, well.


Once the finish dried, I trimmed the edges and placed the new piece in front of my kitchen sink. Why not have art underfoot?
